bought a new one-month Aliyun lightweight application server through student discount. I intend to write a wordpress blog to have a try, but I can"t access mysql directly.

if it is a lightweight server, you should only need to release port 3306 on the firewall, but your server must have mysql installed.
Note that mysql is not installed by default.
